(Golf) Club Diplomatie und Wirtschaft – CDW
Founding Year: 2001
The club originated from a small group of friends. During a round of golf in autumn of the year 2000, the then Spanish ambassador recounted his experiences in Geneva, particularly his regular rounds of golf with diplomats and business representatives.
On the 2nd hole (handicap 1) at Golfclub Schloss Ebreichsdorf, the then Philippine ambassador Victor Garcia III enthusiastically suggested after a brilliant tee shot: “Let’s also form a club here in Vienna!”
The club was founded on 17th May 2001 at the Spanish Residence in Vienna by 20 people and named (Golf) Club Diplomacy and Business (CDW). Since then, the goal was to connect ambassadors accredited to Vienna, their deputies, and high-ranking diplomats with representatives of the Austrian business community in a friendly atmosphere.
